About CSeNews and its Publisher

PURPOSE AND MISSION:

CSeNews is a service of the Christian Science Joint Broadcast Committee, Inc. (CSJBC) of Metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona USA. The CSJBC supports The Mother Church, its activities, Directors, officers and members. csenews.us is not a publication of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, although it supports the Church.

The purpose of CSeNews is to keep those interested in Christian Science apprised of current worldwide, regional and local activities and to share ideas. Our mission statement is: "Building Community and Cooperation Through Communication", and we accomplish this by tying together individuals, branch churches, Christian Science related organizations and advertisers. We are focused on positive issues - uniting students of Christian Science and other interested parties into a world family. Information contrary to the philosophy of Christian Science or contrary to The First Church of Christ, Scientist, its officers, branches and members is not accepted.

HISTORY:
In 1998, the Christian Science Joint Broadcast Committee, Inc. (then the Christian Science Joint Broadcast Committee of Metropolitan Phoenix), began an e-mail newsletter to reach Christian Scientists in the Phoenix metro area. This was to support the 1999 "Christian Science Information Fair" held on the grounds of El Dorado Vista, the local Christian Science Care Facility. Exhibitors from around the US were invited to have a booth at this event. The e-mail newsletter was called the Arizona Christian Science E-mail Update. It became quickly evident that this communication tool had a place in the movement and later in 1999 the name was changed to the Southwestern Christian Science E-mail Update (SWCSE), expanding to cover the seven southwestern US states. Circulation continued to grow including subscribers from all across the US and world. In February 2002, the e-mail newsletter added a web site component where all of the newsletter content was published. Because of the growth of this publication, the name was changed to CSeNews in June 2002, to allow for the continued growth and expansion of this now worldwide publication. In January 2003, the worldwide e-mail newsletter became a monthly publication - with the web site available 24/7 and updated daily.

HOW THE CSeNews eNEWSLETTER & WEB SITE WORKS:
CSeNews
is a WEB-BASED, e-mail newsletter. Each issue carries headlines and hyperlinks which take you back to this web site for content. Click here to view a sample issue of the eNewsletter. The CSeNews worldwide eNewsletter is published monthly and is FREE. The regional editions are published as necessary - calendar activity in the region dictates frequency of publication. CSeNews is a predominantly volunteer-based project.
